Being 'connected' has it's advantages - being able to 'follow' experts in your areas of interest from all around the world has MASSIVE potential - imagine the learning and sharing this could generate AND this is exactly what is happening on Twitter, Pinterest and Google+ - question is, why are you not involved?!
Truly GOOD Professional Development is hard to come by - it is very unusual that what you want/need is what you get when you go on a course but online you have the opportunity to personalise your learning.
