How to Stop Killing the Love of Reading | Cult of Pedagogy "If I had to pick one thing that makes the biggest difference in the quality of any person’s education, the quality of their life, really, it would be reading. And I’m not really talking about basic literacy—not about the ability to read—I’m talking about reading for pleasure, to satisfy curiosities, to understand how people work and find solace in knowing we are not the only ones who think and feel the way we do."

PEC: Best Practices "Seesaw is a student driven digital portfolio that allows you to store what kids are learning in PE and share with parents. It is basically a multimedia journal that empowers students to showcase what they’re learning at school. Students are eager to capture their learning and share what excites them. Seesaw gives them a safe space to do that. I give students 2 minutes at the end of each class to reflect on what they learned, what they want to learn more about and/or what they need help with for next time. See the videos below for more thoughts on how this is used in my classes."

#ObserveMe #edAISL "A teacher who doesn’t collaborate works on an isolated island. When this lack of collaboration permeates an entire school, teachers more closely resemble independent contractors than colleagues. I’m growing increasingly concerned that this is becoming more, and not less, common. Consider the highly shared and liked tweet below from Heather Kohn. At a very collaborative school, the signs on this teacher’s door would be entirely unremarkable. They would be the norm where observations and constructive feedback are commonplace. No sign would be necessary."

Physical Education | 21PE I am a PE teacher who uses the IB Primary Years Program to help students become global citizens who are proficient communicators, critical thinkers, great collaborators with creative minds to positively face the challenges the 21st century holds. Use whatever you want from this blog - I am more than happy to share resources as I know we all have the same goal. That goal is to develop the 4C's (communication, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking) in our students in order for them to reach beyond their potential. If you find something that is particularly useful please share with your colleagues - let's keep our own passion up for learning so we can pass that enthusiasm to our students. Happy teaching.
